Islam in France, the second religion in France, with an estimated six million followers, is experiencing a new transformation this Saturday. Certainly not in substance, since there is no question of modifying the pillars of his faith, but somewhat in form. Indeed, the French State, which has been trying to have control for thirty years and to structure its relations with the practitioners of this religion, officially buries a formula to inaugurate a new one..The French Council of Muslim Worship (CFCM), created in 2003 by Nicolas Sarkozy and until then official interlocutor of the government, leaves its place and says “willingly” farewell to this role. To replace it, the Forum de l’islam de France (Forif) dear to French President Emmanuel Macron and his Minister of the Interior Gérard Darmamin. The Institution is meeting for the first time in Paris this Saturday, February 5 at the Palais d’Iéna in Paris, the first edition of Forif and in part, in the presence of the Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin. It is an appointment now called to become annual. It aims neither more nor less for the time being to turn the page of the CFCM undermined by many internal dissensions.
