Social change phenomenon has been present in every period throughout history, although its speed, effects and scope changed at a great deal. Many factors were affected by social change process including religion and education. For this reason, differences are seen in religious education with social changes. Postnormal times is characterised by uncertainty, realignment of power, complex and chaotic behaviour. Ziyaüddin Sardar explains the characteristics of postnormal times with three ‘C’. These are complexity, chaos, contradictions. The second characteristic of postnormal time is chaos. The main reason is the changed nature, scope and functioning of networks. Sardar mentions of our age in relation to the rapid change and the change in access to information, the use and interpretation of information. In this article, the purpose was to determine the status of religious education according to the periodical characteristics of the postnormal time theory of Ziyaüddin Sardar by considering it in this context. It is considered that this study, which was conducted with the theorical, will contribute to the field in terms of evaluating religious education according to the needs emerging in social change process.
