In this volume, Abul-Fadl defines the Islamization of knowledge and elucidates the present state of thinking on this subject by explaining that one element of the Islamic religious imperative is to activate the Islamic worldview which, in turn, is contingent on the ideal of tajaddud (renovation). It is this ideal or commitment that the program of intellectual revival known as the Islamization of knowledge assumes.
