The dominance of secularism in Western educational models leaves very little room for ethics and values. On the other hand, Muslim education is hampered and hamstrung by authoritarianism, sectarianism and a culture of imitation. After decades of attempting one solution or another, Muslim societies seem no better off than they were during colonial times. It behoves us to talk about this, and share our experiences in a critical and self-reflective exercise such as this one
