To understand the beginnings of the issues surrounding Pakistan’s educational problems, we must look at Pakistan’s history with India prior to the partition. Most of the problems were inherited from British India, which was a complex society. One of the factors that influenced Pakistani society deeply was the gradual evolution of religious identities during British rule. There are two additional challenges: the kind of education inherited from the British and the residual elitism of the caste system which, while not being as important as the first factor, affected it.
